Most pianistic problems at the advanced level of playing lay hidden to the pianist. This is because they are masked by other highly-developed skills. Pain, injury, technical limitations, memory problems and negative psychological issues related to playing tend to have simple, correctable solutions – simple, when you know what the core problem is. Time spent fixing derivative problems is generally what pianists do. It is time wasted: like treating symptoms and not the cause.
